Why I Built Ship Companion
Hesitant Guests
New groups and organisers put a lot of trust into the crew when deciding to try sailing. The app eases that uncertainty — clear information and the safety net of available tools before and during the trip makes the choice much easier.
Hands-On Experience
I've been a guest on multiple IJsselmeer ships for over 10 years, both as an organiser and a participant. Through those trips I know exactly what questions guests ask repeatedly, and what uncertainty keeps them from committing.
Technical Knowledge
Building a cross-platform mobile app can be tricky and expensive. With 8 years of professional software experience I was able to create a well-working application that runs completely locally — no servers, fewer things to break.
